I will definitely be doing a version of this with my students. I am thinking since I teach 5th grade I should also do a survey for my parents.
ReplyDeleteIs PQ a new acronym?:-)
I did one for parents as well near the end of the year last year. I have found that many of them don't see the whole picture until the end of the year (some are there now) because it is still so different than what they are used to. But, especially when you only have 30-40 parents (instead of 200 opinions), it would definitely be a good thing :)
DeletePQ is an oldie, but I don't know if it's on my FAQ page - it stands for Practice Quizzes and it's just the practice problems that go along with each concept instead of textbook problems. :)
PS Knowing me, I would probably be the student working on my assignment at 3am. :-) but on the other hand having that deadline would force to get it done!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!! I am flipping for the first time this year, and I am always looking for ways to make them take ownership of their own learning. Giving them a voice is a great way for me to figure out what to do for them next. Thank you for this!! - Ian
ReplyDeleteHI! I just stumbled upon your blog while looking for some survey questions. I've been flipping for a couple of years now, in 2 different schools (and countries!) and I don't get as good of feedback as you're getting! I can't wait to see what has been working so well for you! When I have time to get into all of your posts, of course. Video making is so time consuming... Do you host an open house?
ReplyDeleteOh, and thanks for posting!
Hi Stacy, thanks for commenting :). I'm definitely getting better feedback this year, which is encouraging. I still need to go through and update all these posts because the second half of the data is finally in...hopefully this weekend!
DeleteVideo making is definitely the most time consuming part, but being able to re-use videos is SO NICE!! I have been able to do that with a couple units this year and it's been wonderful.
I have visitors come to see my classes every so often; are you in the Orange County area? I am not hosting the Flipped Learning open house next Wednesday as I have a lot of other commitments happening that week.
Thanks for reading!
